Family Activities & Celebrations at Lippman for 2006/2007
The Lippman experience is enriched by family events and celebrations.
ParenTeam helps to facilitate many of these events either by hosting, funding or
volunteering. Be sure to review the weekly Gesher for the most up-to-date information
on these events. For a preview of what is available, review the activity categories
below:
Holiday Celebrations
- Rosh ha-Shanah Celebration:
Rosh Hashanah starts at sunset September 22nd and ends at sunset September 24th of 2006.
The children will celebrate in their classrooms the week before.
In addition, the Elementary School classrooms typically go on a field trip to visit an
Apple Orchard in anticipation of apples and honey on Rosh ha-Shanah.
School will be closed in observance of Rosh Hashanah on September 22nd.
- Yom Kippur Observance:
Yom Kippur begins at sunset on October 1, 2006. The children will
be learning the significance of Yom Kippur in their classrooms
and each child has an opportunity to blow the shofar! School will be
closed in observance of Yom Kippur on October 2nd.
- Sukkot Celebration:
Sukkot begins October 7th and ends with Shemini Azeret & Simchat
Torah October 14th & 15th. The children will be celebrating the harvest
in their classrooms and in the school's sukkah. In addition, some
classrooms will take a field trip to visit the sukkah of Lippman families.
- Shemini Azeret & Simchat Torah Observance:
Shemini Azeret lands on October 14th of 2006 and Simchat Torah on
October 15th of 2006.
- Thanksgiving Observance:
Thanksgiving day is on November 23rd of 2006. School will closed for Thanksgiving
from November 22nd to November 24th. School is back in session on November 27th, 2006.
- Hanukkah Celebration:
Hanukkah begins at sunset on December 15th and ends December 23rd. The children
will be celebrating the festival of lights in their classrooms, at school
prayer services and with classroom Hannukah parties.
In addition, the children typically participate in the many community Hanukkah events.
- Holiday Shoppe
December 19th & 20th, 2006
Location TBD
Each year we host a Holiday Shoppe
for the children. This is a great way for children to select special gifts for their friends and family.
You will receive a reminder when this initiative is activated so that you can specify
for whom you would like your child to shop along with spending budgets.
- Classroom Hanukkah Parties
December 15, 2006
The ParenTeam will host Classroom Hanukkah Parties for the children.
ParenTeam will provide latkes and jelly doughnuts for the classroom parties.
Volunteers are needed to help during the parties, prepare latkes and clean up.

- Tu B'Shvat Celebration:
Tu B'Shvat begins at sundown on February 2nd 2007. Lippman celebrates
the New Year of Trees in the classrooms.

- Purim Celebration:
Purim begins at sundown on March 3rd 2007. Each year the 5th grade hosts an
Elementary School
Purim Carnival while the Middle School participates in a fun activity.

- School Purim Celebration
March 5th 2007

- Pesach Celebration:
Pesach begins at sunset on April 2, 2007 and ends April 10, 2007.
Each year we plan a special Passover program
for each grade. Be sure to watch the Gesher to see what is scheduled for
your child and sign up to participate. School will be closed April 2 - 13.
- 5th Grade Passover Program with Seniors
March 29, 2007 1:30-3:15 p.m.
The 5th Graders will be leading the Model Seder for the Senior Adults at the JCC.
Parents are encouraged to join them at this event. If there are any senior adults in
your family please extend to them an invitation to join us as well.
- Kindergarten Model Seder
March 28, 2007 10-11:30 a.m.
You are invited to join the Kindergarten children at their model Seder.
Sixth grade students will lead the model Seders. A light "Passover-style" meal
will be served. We will need parents to help set up for each Seder.
Please let the office know if you are available to help.
Sign up sheets will go home closer to the date.
- 3rd & 4th Grade Passover Program
March 28, 2007 1:30-3:00 p.m.
You are invited to join the 3rd & 4th Grade children for an interactive
Passover program to enrich your knowledge about Passover and the Seder. In addition
to learning together, the program will also include Passover singing and food.
- 1st & 2nd Grade Model Seder
March 29, 2007 10-11:30 a.m.
You are invited to join the 1st & 2nd Grade children at their model Seder.
Sixth grade students will lead the model Seders. A light "Passover-style" meal
will be served. We will need parents to help set up for each Seder.
Please let the office know if you are available to help.

- Lag B'Omer:
Lag B'Omer lands on May 6th 2007. Watch the weekly Gesher for Lippman and
community celebration details.
- Lag B'Omer Field Day:
On May 4th we will host a school-wide activity and bon fire
in celebration of Lag B'Omer.
- Shavuot Celebration:
Shavuot begins at sunset on May 22nd 2007 and ends on May 24th.
The children will be celebrating the harvest in their classroom. They will
learn the story of Shavuot, the "Day of the First Fruits",
and the receiving of the Ten Commandments at Mount Sinai.
The school will be closed on May 23rd and 24th
in observance of Shavuot.

Family & Student Events & Activities
- Pancake Breakfast:
The Lippman ParenTeam hosts an annual Pancake Breakfast.
The breakfast is scheduled for September 11th 2006.
- Open Forum for Lippman ParenTeam:
Throughout the year we provide a forum for parents to meet one another.
We try to communicate all of
these special events in the weekly Gesher as well as online.
- VISIT Day:
VISIT stands for "Very Important Senior In Touch" with a Lippman student.
We will celebrate VISIT DAY on November 10th 2006. A Shabbat Dinner will follow at
6:00 p.m.
- Lippman Day School Shabbat Dinner for VISIT Day
Friday, November 10, 2006 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Shaw JCC Auditorium
This Lippman event is partially subsidized by ParenTeam and we need volunteers
to help make this a success. Please contact a ParenTeam officer to indicate your
availability to assist with any of the following: shopping,
setup, cooking, clean-up.
- Hebrew Play & Dinner:
Our School-wide Hebrew Play performances will be held on March 14th and 15th 2007
at 5:00 p.m. in the JCC Auditorium.

Join us for the School-wide Hebrew Play performances.

- Cast Reception Dinner
Thursday March 15, 2007
JCC Gymnasium
We will host a reception dinner immediately following the performance
on March 15th.
Be sure to place your reservation in advance as seating is limited.
- Ice Cream Social:
An Ice Cream Social is scheduled for June 3, 2007 for the incoming
Kindergarten families from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
- Arts in the Auditorium:
An Art Display is scheduled for June 8th in the Shaw JCC Auditorium from
2:00 - 3:45 p.m.
- Graduation Celebration:
Each year we host graduation and stepping up ceremonies for all of
our students.
- 8th Grade Graduation

Special Appreciation Activities
- Birthday Club:
ParenTeam keeps track of each child's Birthday and provides a gift bag
on their special day.
- Kids Appreciation Day:
Kids need appreciated too. In the past we have had a movie party in the afternoon.
This year we are planning something new and exciting. Watch the Gesher for details!
- Staff Appreciation Week:
Beginning the 1st week in May, we honor our staff at Lippman. Each day during that week
we show appreciation for our staff in a unique way.
