Welcome Letter 2006/2007
Dear Lippman Parents:
On behalf of the Lippman Day School ParenTeam, welcome to a new school year at Lippman!
The purpose of ParenTeam is to foster a close relationship between home and school which allows parents and teachers to cooperate in the education and welfare of our children and to develop and implement programs throughout the year, for our children, regarding safety, health, education, special events and holidays.
The ParenTeam is an organization similar to PTA but without dues. Every parent who has a child attending Lippman is automatically a member of the ParenTeam. Although you are a member you are not obligated to participate unless you are interested in helping us out!
We meet the second Wednesday of each month, beginning in September. The schedule of meetings and the officers of ParenTeam is enclosed with this letter. Meetings are usually brief and tend to discuss upcoming events for us to plan and participate in and to discuss fund-raisers. We participate in some fun things like Birthday Club, Pancake Breakfast, Staff Appreciation Week, a Chanukah party, and reward parties for the students. Fundraisers are a necessary part of any school. We try to keep ours to a minimum. We have some ongoing ones that are of no cost to the parents. These are explained with this letter and can be kept as a reference throughout the school year.
We love to have parents involved and understand that some are able to help more than others. We hope you will be able to get involved in our great organization.

Fund-raisers
As we all know fundraisers are a very necessary and very important part of any school and Lippman Day School is no exception. ParenTeam has attempted to find some painless, easy fundraisers to help our school, at no cost to the parents! These fundraisers specifically help raise money for ParenTeam events (for example, the Birthday Club, Staff Appreciation Week, Pancake Breakfast, Chanukah party etc.).
Presently our ongoing fundraisers are the following:
- General Mills Box Tops for Education: General Mills/Betty Crocker products have a pink or red box top on them. These box tops are worth ten cents each. During the school year watch for the weekly box top collection that earns a treat each week and small prize to the monthly winner. The coordinator will then mail these box tops into General Mills twice per school year. **The Betty Crocker baked goods "bags" (cookies, muffins) have the box top on the bottom.
Also, shop at www.boxtops4education and earn money for our school. There is a list of participating stores on the other side of this flyer. We raised over $400 this year with this fundraiser.
- Target, Take Charge of Education: If you have a Target retail store charge card please put it to good use! Designate Lippman Day School to receive a 1% donation from your purchases. Just call 1-800-316-6142 to add Lippman Day School to this fundraiser. That is all you have to do! Also, use the Target Visa card at any gas station and the school receives a portion of the purchase. We raised over $350 this year with this fundraiser.
- Apples for Students: If you shop at Giant Eagle, beginning in November, sign up for Apples for Students. Just call 1-800-742-7753 and enter your Giant Eagle advantage card number and our school number (2484). If you want someone to do this for you watch for the sign up form in the weekly October Gesher. Every dollar you spend equals apple points for Lippman. Those points will allow us to purchase playground equipment, computers, software etc.
- Verizon Extra Credit for Schools Program: If you choose Verizon as your long distance carrier it will give 5% of the long distance fees to Lippman Day School. Just call 1-888-215-5717 to check rates and sign up for the program.
- ACME Grocery Receipts: If you shop at ACME grocery stores, please save your receipts! These receipts are collected September through May. We receive 1% of the total in receipts.
- Magazine Subscriptions: On the Lippman website, www.lippmandayschool.org, there is a link to QSP Reader's Digest. Click on this link to order and RENEW your magazine subscriptions. Our school receives 40% of each purchase.
- Computer Print Cartridges: Please collect your empty print cartridges and send them into the office. We receive up to $4 per cartridge. You may collect at home and the office!
All of our fundraisers allow us to provide numerous supplies to all the classrooms often meet the needs of the teachers and administration during the school year and sponsor events during the year!
